Please watch for email with the subject line:\u00a0 Notice to appear in court<\/span>. <\/strong><\/p>\n

This is an email hoax intending to encourage unsuspecting recipients to open attached files from email addresses appearing to come from legitimate law firms.<\/p>\n

The email contains substantially the same information as this:<\/p>\n

Subject: Notice to appear in court NR#XXXX<\/strong> <\/span>
\n Notice to Appear,<\/span><\/p>\n

Hereby you are notified that you have been scheduled to appear for your hearing that will take place in the court of Washington in January 19, 2014 at 10:00 am.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please bring all documents and witnesses relating to this case with you to Court on your hearing date.<\/span><\/p>\n

The copy of the court notice is attached to this letter.<\/span>
\n Please, read it thoroughly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note: If you do not attend the hearing the judge may hear the case in your absence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Email contained an attached file with the name\u00a0 “Court_Notice_Legit_Law_Firm.XXX”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Legitimate correspondence regarding a court appearance will not have an .EXE, or executable file attached which must be installed on your computer.<\/p>\n

If you are concerned that the email is legitimate, please note the “From” email address, which is likely to have a legitimate lawfirm’s extension, e.g., do_not_reply@lawfirm.com and contact the law firm directly.<\/p>\n
